Test Questions

1.       What is the average temperature span within the rainforest biome?
Answer: The average temperature span is above 20 degrees Celsius or 64 degrees Fahrenheit

2.       Where are most tropical rainforests distributed in the world?
Answer: Tropical Rainforests are located in the tropics (Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn) around the world’s equator because of the tilt of the earth’s axis in proximity of the sun’s location.

3.       Why does human population growth affect the rainforest’s destruction?
Answer:Sustenance farming and logging as well as industrialized agriculture result from human population growth, therefore making the result of human population growth a threat to the tropical rainforest.

4.       What is the purpose of a “drip tip” in terms of plant adaptations?
Answer: A “drip tip” is used at the ends of rainforest leaves to promote drainage from the surface of the leaf and helps keep the leaf surface clean of epiphytes and fungi within the humid biome.

5.       What is the purpose of the structure of the forest canopy and how do the plants use this structure?

Answer: The purpose of the canopy is to provide layers of leaves that compile and result in the cycle ofevaporation and transpiration that keep the rainforest healthy and successful in terms of optimal living conditions. Plants utilize this structure to adapt to find optimum strategies to reach sunlight. This results in an array of plant life and plant structure that helps maintain the biome in terms of carbon dioxide and oxygen cycling as well as the stages of the water cycle that help the rainforest thrive.
